Hymnal Donations Plaque
This plaque lists the names of those in whose memory donations have been made for the annual Breaking Bread Hymnals used by our parish. Every year St. Philip Church requires new hymnals. Donations cover much of the cost of these. |

Saint Cecilia Plaque
Saint Cecilia, a patrician of ancient Rome, converted to Christianity at a young age. She is believed to have been martyred ca. 253 A. D. Today best known as the patron saint of music and musicians, she has been one of the most venerated martyrs of the early church. This plaque, made from resin, is reproduced from a bronze relief (ca. 1450) believed to be the work of the Italian Renaissance sculptor Donatello. He is regarded not only as one of the greatest sculptors of all time but also the forerunner of modern sculpture. The Renaissance-style frame was found by Ed Spires at United House Wrecking in Stamford. After the plaque and frame were joined together, the piece was finished to look like a unified whole. |
