The inspiration for this work came from one of the
tabernacles in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and was
fabricated by artist Bob Fischer. (His other creations seen here in St.
Philip are the Ave Maria monogram on the pedestal base of the Mary statue
and the “Blest Are They” sculpture.)

Tabernacle and Angel |
|
Conceived as the life-giving sun, the center of our universe, the Tabernacle shrine reflects the reality of Christ radiating us with His Grace and Life. The central sphere contains the Blessed Scarament. Alongside is an adoring angel holding the Eternal candle, proclaiming the Light of Christ. Like the Tabernacle, the angel is constructed of copper, brass, steel and bronze, and was built to resemble our image of an angel who is reflecting bits and pieces of wavering light, a series of exploding rays and colors. |
