For 30 hours, from
February 18-19, 2006, over 100 teenagers from St Philip, St Jerome,
and St. Matthew participated in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine. They
fasted for 30 hours to get a "taste" of what so many poverty
stricken children and families feel every day. They were pushed out
of their comfort zones and gained a new perspective on a world that
is in desperate need of help, while raising awareness and much
needed funds. Together they raised over $2,000 for Manna House and
$13,000 for World Vision. They also constructed a phenomenal cross
from 29,000 craft sticks, representing the 29,000 CHILDREN
who die every day from hunger and hunger related illnesses |
