Deacon Chiappetta Celebrates 25th Anniversary

On Sunday June 11, at the 12:00 noon Mass, Deacon Frank Chiappetta celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination.  Deacon Frank was ordained on June 13, 1981 in Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. He has served St. Philip Parish for 17 years.

The photos were taken at the reception in the school hall following the Mass. In addition to parishioners and friends, Deacon Frank was joined by three of his classmates in the diaconate program.

MOMS Group Meets with Representative Cafero

State Representative Larry Cafero asked to meet with the MOMS group to gain insight into the issues facing families in Norwalk. The meeting took place on June 7 at St. Philip. A dynamic discussion gave both the mothers and Mr. Cafero, a St. Matthew's parishioner, some
significant insights into the issues of raising children, the value and sanctity of human life and the importance of common sense in decision making.

Chelsea Cohen Day

Despite the dire weather predictions early in the week, the sun came out on Saturday, May 13 for the car washes and bake sales held throughout the city by various youth groups to show support for Chelsea and her family.  Based on observations at St. Philip, where the event was manned by the youth groups of St. Philip and St. Thomas the Apostle, the occasion was a big success.  We are especially proud of the St. Philip Youth Group and co-ordinator Kal DiMarco for their roles in getting this event started. For background and details of Chelsea's illness and the other groups participating, see our earlier page about Chelsea and see more photos in the Chelsea Cohen page  in Recent Photos.

Come on in! The water's soapy! Some cars are bigger than others. The car Chelsea is in gets special attention.

Confirmation

On May 21, 2006, Bishop William Lori will confirm these candidates at Mass at 12:30 pm (note time change from the usual noon Mass). They have undergone a long and searching preparation culminating in an overnight retreat the weekend of May 6-7. We are proud of their progress on their faith journey and look forward to congratulating them on May 21.
