The Campaign
On September 15 and 16, 2007, Father
Michael A. Boccaccio, Pastor, announced
"Lift High The
Cross" Restoration
Campaign,
a major drive to restore
deteriorating parts of the church building and replace
the bell tower which had to be removed in 2006.
The Need
The basic problem has been the intrusion, over years,
of water into the concrete of the church building. This
has resulted in weakening of the concrete to the point
where the bell tower had to be removed, and extensive
work done on the concrete walls of the church. Water
damage has also occurred in the roof beams. Required is
removal and replacement of some concrete, manual repair
of "pockmarks" on the walls, where crumbling and
corrosion have occurred, and a complete waterproof
coating of the building. Roof beams will be restored.
Last will come a replacement of the bell tower. When the
building is completely sealed against water, the long
planned new floor will be installed.
Success
WE DID IT! The drive, which ended formally on
June 14, 2008, surpassed its goal of $550,000.
Work in Progress
Restoration work began in mid-May 2008 and will
continue through much of 2008. To see photos and a more

Would You Like to Contribute?
If you have not previously contributed, you may want
to consider doing so now, although the drive is
officially ended. Additional funds may be needed for
unexpected problems and will not be wasted. If you wish
to do so, make a check payable to "St. Philip Church -
Lift High", and mail it to the church or drop it in the
offertory basket at mass. You can also contribute online
- see below for directions.
Recognition
All contributors will have their names, or the names
they wish to memorialize, inscribed on a new outdoor
shrine on the east side of the church. A model of the
shrine is currently on display on the pulpit side of the
sanctuary.
