Vision Statement
Responding to Christ's call, the Social Concerns Ministry of St. Philip Parish, reaches out to those in
need by sharing our corporal and spiritual gifts; we welcome, serve and support our parish and the
greater community.
What is Social Concerns?
"Show me your faith without works, and I will show you the faith that underlies my works! " (James
2:18)
A group of parishioners, who share various skills and talents by reaching out to help those in need in one
or more of the following capacities:
● Welcoming Committee
● Visiting the Sick
● Special Parish Collections
● Manna House of Hospitality
● Parish Food Pantry
● Helping Hands
● Parish Nurse Program
● Pro-Life
● Ministry of Consolation
Welcoming Committee
There are two ways in which you may serve on this committee:
1. Telephone contact to new parishioners.
2. Organize/Participate in social gatherings for new parishioners.
Visiting the Sick
Can you spend a few hours each month visiting the sick? Parishioners visit Catholic
patients at Norwalk Hospital and Honey Hill Care Center during the week to share
prayer. Clergy and Staff visit regularly and for all emergencies. If you would like more information about this ministry or would like Holy Communion
brought to someone who is homebound call Deacon Frank J. Chiappetta 847-5792.

Special Parish Collections
Participate in organizing, collecting and distribution of food and other related items 6
times-a-year for the needy in our community. Each collection is theme oriented:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Pantry is Bare, Picnic, Health & Home.

collection. Help is needed sorting and distributing the
materials in the days following the collection
Manna House of Hospitality
Be part of a team that helps the homeless and needy by picking up donations,
helping in the preparation and serving of meals at the Norwalk Shelter in South
Norwalk once a week.
Parish Food Pantry
Housed in
our Parish Center and distributes emergency food to those in immediate need.
Volunteers are always needed to Collect, sort, organize and distribute non-perishables and canned goods to people who are in need of this service.
Helping Hands
Drivers are needed at various times. Those willing to help may need to drive people to Mass
or doctor's appointments or make trips to the drug store, grocery pickup, medical
appointments, etc.
Parish Nurse Program
Come join our team of parish nurses and provide blood pressure checks once-a-month after
the Sunday 10:00am Mass.
Pro-Life
Join an advocacy group for the unborn. Help single mothers bring their babies to term.
Ministry of Consolation
A group of parishioners who provide various support services to those who have
experienced the loss of a loved one.
